Vintage & Viticulture
We experienced a relatively mild and dry winter and early spring. Bud break was about 2 weeks earlier and May brought in summer like weather. The rest of the season remained warm and allowed grapes to reach ripeness not seen in a couple of years.
Winemaker's Notes:
The juice from each varietal type was pressed from clean fruit and they all underwent fermentation for 7-10 days, using selected yeast. The wine was pressed from the skins and underwent complete malolactic fermentation. Aging in oak barriques for 3 months rounds out the flavours of this unique blend without masking the fresh fruit components.
Tasting Notes:
Aromas of plum, wild cherry, blackberry, tobacco and pepper. Soft, ripe fruit flavours are prominent on the palate with a long, smooth finish. This cuvée will cellar well for 2-3 years, but is currently drinking quite well.
Food Pairings:
This versatile medium-bodied red wine will pair with various grilled red meats, tomato-based pasta sauces as well as chicken and turkey dishes, vegetable ragouts and hearty stews.
