Vintage & Viticulture
2009 was an interesting vintage starting off cool and ending with a long warm fall. Spring came in with a wet April and a drier May which allowed a slow consistent flowering. The summer was wet and had temperatures 2-3 degrees below normal. Once again the fall made the vintage, drier warm temperatures and cool nights allowed the fruit to develop further. Vineyard management was more important than ever, crops were maintained low and canopies trimmed to maximize the minimal heat and sun units. Patience was rewarded with clean well structured fruit.
Harvest time fell on the 17th of November. Yields averaged 3.5 tons per acre with the vines were 7 years old.
Winemaker's Notes:
The juice pressed from very clean, ripe fruit was used with selected yeast for cold-controlled, slow fermentation. The fermentation lasted for 7 days in stainless steel tanks to highlight the native fruit characteristics of this wine, and to maintain its excellent acidity.
Tasting Notes:
Lively aromas of honey suckle and melon dance in the glass in this refreshing fruit forward wine. The mouthfeel is clean yet rich and enticing with flavours of honeyed fruit and tangerines. A good acid structure makes way for a zesty, lemony finish.
Food Pairings:
Perfect accompaniment for shell fish and poached or grilled white fish such as sole or tilapia.
