"88 points — Very nice wine with earthy field raspberry, strawberry and underbrush on the nose. It’s a medium-weight red on the palate with wild red fruits, soft tannins and lightly spiced with black cracked pepper."

Vintage & Viticulture
2009 was an interesting vintage starting off cool with a wet summer and temperatures 2-3 degrees below normal. Once again the fall made the vintage, drier warm temperatures; vineyard management was more important than ever, crops were maintained low and canopies trimmed to maximize the minimal heat and sun units.
Winemaker's Notes:
Grapes for this wine came from a young vineyard block. The fruit was crushed and allowed to cold soak for a 12 hour period. The fermentation was complete in 10 days and the grapes remained on the skin for another 7 days. Malolactic was completed and the wine was aged in older French and American barriques.
Tasting Notes:
Aromas of sour cherries and fresh strawberries and a touch of black pepper and fresh cut stone. On the palate, this Gamay lives up to its reputation of sour cherries with an acid spine. Fresh strawberries and soft tannins on the finish. Tasted March 16, 2012.
Food Pairings:
Chill to 14°C and serve with salads, poultry, ham, pork, veal or with slightly spicy dishes.
