Vintage & Viticulture
The grapes were harvested on October 14, 2009 from a two acre vineyard block featuring four rows of twenty year old vines. The balance of the vineyard block is home to ten year old vines which were propagated from cuttings from the original four rows because of the desired distinctive varietal characteristics that were identified by the winemaker from these specific vines.
Winemaker's Notes:
The juice pressed from clean, ripe fruit underwent temperature-controlled fermentation for 14 days, using selected yeast for cold slow fermenting. The wine was both fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks to highlight the complexity of fruit components inherent to Gewürztraminer.
Tasting Notes:
Aromas of rose petals, apple blossom, ginger spice with a hint of pear. Medium bodied on the palate with pear fruit and fresh ginger spice and a luxuriously long finish. Tasted May 5, 2011
Food Pairings:
A perfect match for Asian cuisine. Also pairs well with salads, fish, pork and poultry dishes.
