Vintage & Viticulture
Weather conditions were fairly normal in winter and early spring 2011. April and May brought about very wet conditions and by early June the vineyards were behind by a couple of weeks. Summer came on strong with temperatures a few degrees above normal and dry sunny conditions allowed the fruit to ripen early. Harvest began early and picking became more challenging with the fall rains. The vintage is promising to showcase some very nice wines.
Grapes were crushed and went through a three week, warm maceration. The must was lightly pressed and malolactic fermentation was completed in large stainless steel tanks. Wines were aged for 9 months in a variety of French and American oak and were made separately. The final blend was prepared to create a rich, velvety well balanced wine.
Aromas of plum, red and black berries with a mineral note. Flavours of red berries and plum preceded by a soft texture. Balance of a refreshing acidity supported with silky tannins on the finish.
Roasted red meat, aged cheese and pastas with red sauces.
